The purpose of this page is to enable the chairs of the Voice of the Poor committees in the Councils of the dioceses of the Mideast Region to share information about their programs and activities as well as coordinating their activities.

This page is a preliminary step towards a full website. If the chairs of the several diocesan council's VOP committees provide the basic information for their council using the Columbus council as a model, we can get a better idea of what information we finally want to present and share.

So, click on the Columbus diocese button to see what kind of information is given there. Then click on the button for your diocese to see what information is requested. Please email the information to the temporary webmaster: Charles Kielkopf at kielkopf.1@osu.edu .

Links to local social action groups: BREAD . BREAD is an ecumenical group focusing on social justice issues in Central Ohio. We receive guidance and help from our diocesan Office of Social Concerns,SOC.

Some current projects:

The Voice of the Poor Committee met in September at St. Mary's Bremen, OH. The focus of the meeting was a discussion of the main themes of Benedict XVI encyclical Caritas In Veritate (Charity in Truth).

The encyclical encourages the faithful to focus on integral human development in works of charity and justice. Integral human development is a person's development in all of dimensions (spiritual and emotional as well as material and physical).

Members of the committee continue to respond to action alerts on issues affecting those we serve at the local, state and national levels.
