Lou was also active at the regional and national level. His brother in-law Fr. Francis Stanton celebrated his Mass of Christian burial September 15 in Immaculate Conception church. Lou requested that donations in his memory be sent to The Society of St. Vincent DePaul, Immaculate Conception Parish, 414 E.North Broadway, Columbus, Ohio 43214. New National SVdP PresidentSheila Gilbert has been elected the 12th President of the National Council of the U.S. Society of St. Vincent de Paul. She was officially commissioned at the closing liturgy of the National Meeting on Sept. 4, 2011 President Gilbert took office on Oct. 1, 2011 for a six year term. Death of Robert (Bob) F. Mahler, April 10, 2011Bob Mahler, a founding member of the Immaculate Conception conference, passed away peacefully shortly before his ninetieth birthday. His funeral mass was April 12 in Immaculate Conception church. Advocacy Work Shop ReportsEasy Way to Donate Cars to SVdP ConferencesIn latw 2010 The National Office of The Society of St. Vincent de Paul signed on with a company that will manage the receipt and disposition of vehicles donated to any one of our conferences. Except for a small fee, the balance of the funds received for the vehicle are returned to either our Diocesan Council for ministries such as St. Lawrence Haven, or to the individual conference if specified when contacting the company for receipt and disposition of the vehicle. Prospective donors may call 800-322-8284 or go to the website Car Donation to initiate the process. The program representatives will pick up the car right away, resolve any title issues, and dispose of the vehicle. The average return to the conference or diocesan council is $700. Return to TOP Report on 2010 Bishop's Appreciation MassOn Monday, December 6 at 6:30PM, Bishop Campbell celebrated the 2010 Appreciation Mass. See our Events page for details. Return to TOP Death of Ralph Emrich, September 15, 2010Ralph Roy Emrich died while surrounded with family, September 15. at Mother Angeline McCory Manor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta, of 68 years. Ralph was the main force behind St. Lawrence Haven and its daily sack lunch program for many years. He also started the Saturday Morning Food Program where bags of groceries are delivered to people in the hilltop and bottoms area. His Funeral Mass was Friday September 17 at OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP, 3730 Broadway , Grove City. Return to TOP Death of Roberta Emrich, May 17, 2010Roberta Emrich,wife of Ralph Emrich, passed away Monday, May 17. The funeral mass was at 10:00AM Wednesday, May 19, at Mother Angeline McCrory. Ralph started the Saturday program at St. Lawrence Haven. Roberta and Ralph have always been very involved with the society and in meeting the needs of the less fortunate. Return to TOP November 6, 2009: Death of Tom Sparks & Dec. 2 Memorial MassTom Sparks, son of Bill Sparks, died at age 33 in Los Angeles. Remember this young man in your prayers. Return to TOP Death of Monsignor Corcoran,Msgr. Lawrence Corcoran passed away in his sleep on, August 31, 2009. He had been a resident of The Villas at St. Therese for the past several months since living at the Holy Cross Parish Rectory for many years. Msgr. Corcoran was the "Father" of The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the Columbus Diocese since the early 1950's when Bishop Ready asked that he get the Society started here. As our Spiritual Advisor over the years he has guided us as we expanded the number of conferences in our Parishes and began St. Lawrence Haven, The Saturday Morning Food Program, and The Clothing Distribution Center. His funeral was Saturday, September 5, at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Church at 5th and Rich Streets in Columbus. May his soul rest in peace as we reflect his leadership and teachings in the work that we do as Vincentians.

He was a member of St. Catherine Conference. There was a funeral mass on Friday, August 14, at 10 AM.Please keep Bill and his family in your prayers.
